The other side of me

TOKYO ROCKS

This album is the result of 4 years work slaving over hot keyboards and mixers. All the tracks have taken inspiration from somewhere, and I’ve tried to put those images and emotions into the music. It’s an entirely instrumental album, and the following paragraphs explain a little bit about them all. All instruments are played by myself.

1. Salvador Dali
Inspired by the great man himself. I spent many happy hours in Figeures “Theatre Museum”, trying to find out what made him tick. I know he was just a bit strange, but his commitment to his work and his striving for artistic perfection is unquestionable. Had he been a musician he might have come up with something like this.

2. Madrid
The main city in Spain, slightly Spanish flavour to the chord sequence, and it just seems to shout of  ‘Madrid’ with its laid back power.

3. Tokyo Rocks
Japan gave us Roland, this track is played on a Roland keyboard, os I’m giving them back their own scales with a rockin’ beat. Ahh-so.

4. Heart of Catalonia
Spent many years on the French/Spanish boarder. Very relaxing place with the Pic Du Canigou towering into the sky. Never learned the sardana though. Slightly classical feel to this track.

5. Something for the Philistines
If there are any Philistines out there, maybe this will get you started.

6. Camden Nights
Camden, coolest place on the planet, Dingwalls, Roundhouse, Palais. Just a great place for those who know. This is my interpretation of Camden in the night.

7. Sophie’s Song
Sophie was my dear old Mum, and this track represents her life in musical terms. Enough said.

8. Song for Guy
Eltons memorable instrumental, and this is my version of it.

9. Boogie on the Moon
Never actually been there, but I can see it from the bedroom window. Imagine playing the piano on the moon, and all the little green men arrive in their flying saucers. Well it could happen one day!
